So there I was, upside
down and in mid-air. They say that time slows down right before you die, in
order for your life to flash before your eyes I suppose. Time certainly did
slow down as it seemed I was in mid air forever. I remember asking God to watch
over my family and to help them understand that He had much bigger plans for
me. My life did not flash before my eyes and perhaps that is simply because I
am still here, still breathing and still gaming.
As I emerged from the
mangled mess of twisted metal and plastic that had once been my beloved Toyota
truck, I couldn't help but check to see if I was still in possession of all five
extremities. I could taste blood, but I seemed to escape certain death with no
severe injuries. No broken bones and no cuts save for a small scratch below my
eye that resembled a paper cut. Needless to say, I was very thankful to have
survived rolling my truck on a deserted country road.
Only a few days later
did I start to feel the effects of nerve damage in the form of numbness in my
left arm and hand. The doctor said the damage was unlikely to be permanent, but
he would certainly be wrong on that account. As an avid gamer, I found it
impossible to keep my left thumb on the analog stick. You see, prior to my
accident, I was quickly becoming one of the fastest racers in the Forza
Motorsports 2 community. Several #1 times seemed like nothing but a daydream as
I now struggled to make it through turn one before my thumb came off of the
stick and I barreled into the wall, or somebody else's car. I grew more and
more frustrated over the coming weeks and had all but given up on Forza and
gaming in general. That is until my friend and fellow club member, ACC Mystic,
told me about his newest gaming gadget and explained how it worked.
The gadget was the Speed
Freek and it would become the only reason I am able to play games to this day.
After Mystic had explained the simplicity of the Speed Freek and how it helped
him keep his massive thumb on the analog stick, I figured that I should give it
a try. So I ordered a pair on the Kontrol Freek website and in a few days I had
them in my possession. I popped the tube, placed the Speed Freek on my
controller and threw FM2 into my Xbox 360. To my amazement, I was able to not
only get through turn one, I was able to complete an entire lap without my thumb
coming off of the stick. The simple U design of the Speed Freek made gaming a
reality rather than just a dream. Not only was I able to race again, but I was
breaking my own #1 times by over a full second!
I figure that if the
Speed Freek can help a guy with a gimpy left arm start playing games again, and
actually get better than before the arm was gimped, the Speed Freek can
certainly help you increase your control and decrease your lap times. I would
recommend that everyone give this product a try and I guarantee that you'll be
just as pleased as I am. Who knows, maybe you will one day become just as fast
as I am.

While it was
designed for racing, I find the speedfreek to be really useful for FPS gaming.
Feel free to crank up the sensitivity without sacrificing the intricate control
needed for long-range combat!

Fast delivery to
Finland and everything worked seamlessly good. The product is fantastic, it's
such a great add-on to the controller. Especially in Forza Motorsport 2, it
helps a lot because you can make now much smoother turns. Turning isn't on/off
style anymore! Great job!

I just got a set
of these to use with Forza for the original Xbox.
None of the reviews I've seen said anything about how they'd work with S
controllers so I wasn't sure what to expect but as it turns out, there was
nothing to worry about at all.
I'm using them on a pair of Japanese OEM controllers (like US S controllers) and
although they fit a little loose, it's not loose enough where they'll come off
accidentally (I really tested this) and not loose enough to be distracting.
After I got used to the SpeedFreek (it took about 3 laps), my game got
considerably better and I feel like they're *well* worth the money. Now if only
there were some black ones available, they'd be perfect! (Yay
we now have black ones)

Got mine this
morning, and just tried it out. Great addition to the controller. You guys will
be selling allot of these. Great peripheral. Great idea. If you want better
touch and better control with the stick, get a set of these. Even tried them out
with nhl07, and they work great.
A must have for racers are sports gamers alike!
Now make some black ones for my elite! (we
have :-) )

Loved this
product. Not only was it shipped promptly, but it's a MUST HAVE for any racing
freaks. The extra level of control it provides you for turning ability on the
controller is absolutely sensational. Don't take my word for it, try it
yourself...I guarantee you it will be money well spent.

Wow! It's amazing
how a design so simple can improve your gaming so much. I received my SpeedFreek
today and tried it out on Forza 2. The control I have over my cars is
outstanding. Much better than without. Being able to use the edge of my thumb to
turn makes taking cornering a breeze. Great product for any racing fan that
doesn't use the wheel

I just received
the Kontrolfreek a few days ago and have been testing it out on PGR3….I have to
say it works like a gem and gave me much better control of my cars. My lap times
have definitely improved and I am able to do more accurate drifts and such….my
kudos have definitely increased. Now I have the guts to get Forza. Thanks for a
great simple device…..guess lateral thinking does do wonders.

Not to long ago I
received my KontrolFreek. It took some adjustment time, but after awhile I
noticed I was able to hold the line better on turns in Forza2 and pass cars
while on turns. That was something that was difficult to achieve before. Thank
you guys for a great product.

Once I received my
SpeedFreek I immediately tried it out on Forza2 and Dirt.
After I adjusted to not having to push down on the left thumb stick, turning was
easier.
SpeedFreek is a great tool for those of us that play driving games for hours on
end.
This is a great product at a reasonable price!

Got my
Kontrolfreek yesterday, got a copy of dirt the day before. Kontrolfreek
has improved my racing game quite a bit what a cool product, it comes in handy
when in the air and sideways. Now if I could just figure out what the
brakes are for? lol. Kontrolfreek is well worth the money.

This product is
great. Helps with being able to make more gradual turns in racing games to
compensate for over steering. In FPS games it keeps your thumb where it needs to
be.

It feels so much better to just slide
your thumb to the sides rather than switching sides on the side of the stick
just to make sure that you are not going to loose grip on the stick. I notice
that in Forza 2 that I can turn in tight and quick turns quicker than I have
before and I do not have to let off the gas as much as I did when I did not have
the speed freek. I cant wait to use it on other games. I will be recommending
this to others as well. Thanks for such a great and simple little product, cant
believe I didn't get one sooner.

I
work as an accessories manager for a large company that does gaming and music. I
spend my work day evaluating new products and prototypes, and demo'ing new
technology. I love all kinds of Xbox 360 games, and am especially impressed with
Forza 2.
I've always thought that racing games could be played faster and more accurately
with a controller instead of a wheel, and when I saw the design drawing for the
Speed Freek - I knew immediately that it would work awesome! When I got the
unit, I was even more impressed!
The amount of increased control you get and the reduced strain on your left
thumb is incredible!
Having the extra "play" in my L/R axis really helps with cornering and speed,
and allows you have much less "bumping" of the stick for slight adjustments. I
play for hours at a time, and notice a huge reduction in strain on my thumb over
time.
... and you get 2 units for $10.00? A very fair price for such a unique
invention with many applications.
VIVA SPEED FREEK, VIVA!!

Can't
really say much more than what has already been posted praising this ingenious
little gadget.
Snaps right onto the stick, and after a few laps of getting used to it being
there after years of nothing touching your thumb, you will find your control is
more precise on those long bends. The jerking of the car while trying to hold a
steady line is pretty much non existent with the freek.
The thing even makes navigating the menus easier!
I have also found that you will get much more out of the smallest adjustment to
the stick by using this product.
All I can tell people looking into this is that it is just too simple to pass
up. Amazing product and amazing price. Everyone needs to get their freek on!

Easy to install. Really, I thought it
was going to be more tricky than just "snap it on." The biggest improvement
comes on long, sweeping turns. There was also a significant improvement in
control on fast left/right/left chicanes and S-turns. I think it's easier to be
precise with the amount of force you use when turning quickly.
In short, would I buy it again?
Absolutely YES. It makes a huge difference. I'm very happy with it and I think
it's priced perfectly.

I love this thing....only problem was
getting used to it, and that only took a few laps before I didn't notice it was
there.
Cant really say much more than what has
already been stated about how well this little gadget works for maintaining
control, especially in long turns that require a steady finger to hold the line.
it does what it was made to do, and it
does it well. it is kind of difficult to get long winded in a review about
something that is so simple and ingenious.
Sweet product man. get some freek action
if you haven't already!

I love it. I'm a
Forza fan. and this product is a compliment to the game..
It's a pleasure to not worry about your thumb sliding off the joy stick at those
crucial moments. The "SpeedFreek" allows for precise turning in the long
sweepers and chicanes..
Outstanding Product..

I can already tell
that this is going to be a kick-ass product.
It will even be great for the Fight Night Games, when I throw a combo my thumb
slides off with fierce intensity. This product will be the cure for all those

What a great idea
! I wasn't sure I was going to like these little guys, but boy was I wrong ! The
added accuracy and precision in racing games is well worth it. Holding your
lines on long sweepers, or even just holding your controller on long races has
never been easier. No more thumb slipping off of your stick because of sweaty
palm syndrome. This thing is killer !
And it's not just for racing games. I keep mine on all the time, whether I'm
playing Forza, PGR3, Halo 2, Call of Duty 2...it doesn't matter what game I'm
playing, having the Kontrol Freek on the thumbstick is sure to give me added
control on whatever I'm playing.
I can't wait until I can just walk in the store and grab a few more, to put on
all of my controllers !

I recently
received the SpeedFreek in the mail and couldn't wait to try it out.
Installation was quick and painless, and it's very secure. Full motion of the
thumbstick is still achieved, so that was a relief. Although designed with the
racer in mind, it has proven it's worth in games of all genres: Racing, FPS,
Action, and platformers. My lap times in MotoGP have decreased, and I've seen an
improvement in all games from GRAW to Geometry Wars!
Simply put: Great product, plain and simple. I will recommend this product to
all of my friends.

First off, Great packaging.
It is nice to see some thought being put into the presentation.
This will be my first installment of my review.
While I am not a big racing game player I am pretty much addicted to FPS games
in particular GRAW and BF2 at the moment. I received my SpeedFreek the other day
and after following the simple instructions placed it on my left stick and
hopped online.
After a few hours of play I have to admit that it is a nice addition. I felt
like I had more control over the left stick and it did not hinder access to the
D-Pad.
After playing for a few hours I noticed that one benefit I had not anticipated
was that my left hand was a lot more relaxed than normal. The SpeedFreek allowed
me to use a significantly more relaxed grip with my left hand. As a member of
www.2old2kwit.com I think that the "say we say chronologically challenged"
gamers will appreciate this benefit just as much as the increased control.
"I love
it (speedfreek), I'm a Forza fan.. and this

pleasure to not worry about your thumb sliding

Easy to
install. Really, I thought it was going to
be more tricky tan just 'snap it on'. The
biggest improvement comes on long sweeping
turns."
