The American Wild West seems like a real no-brainer when talking about good game material. But for some reason games featuring the exciting time period are few and far between—and the handful of games that have let us explore the milieu of the American West have not been very good.

Well, from the look of this introduction video for Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar Games is set to cap-the-climax and bring us the game that the Wild West has always deserved. Rockstar’s open-world formula set in the time period of six-shooters and wagon trains looks amazing. And if this video is any indication of the awesomeness to come, we’ll be in hog-heaven come next April.

Red Dead Redemption will hit shelves for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America on April 27^th.
