FPS Freek CQCProduct
Great addition to stock controller!
By Eli"The CQC has a very nice concave profile that has a similar feel as the original controller but with all the benefits KontrolFreek offers. We use both CQC and CQCX in the household, both are great, and I would recommend any KontrolFreek sticks for a stock controller. I have big hands and the extra height and grip is always appreciated. 100s of hours in FPS, Racing, and Sandbox games, would never give up my KontrolFreeks."
The name says it all!
By Shannon"Excellent choice for smaller maps and close encounters. Texture makes for good grip. "
Comfortable sticks with adequate amount of extra control!
By Ben"I bought the FPS CQC Freek for my DualShock 4, so the experience with this stick will only be relevant to it.
By far, my favorite thing about the FPS Freek CQC is the comfort. The concave foundation allows my thumb to be rested and feel that I have a very good grip over long playing sessions. The base is narrower than the Alpha, but I do have skinny thumbs so I'd say the CQC's width is just right. Love the CQCs on both the Left and Right thumbsticks, they feel just right! I also like the fact there are no silly embossed logos on the stick, just a simple nubbed texture which makes everything feel very consistent.
The added height is about just right for me. My thumbs are only 2.3" long, so while I'd prefer the CQCs to just be 1.5mm lower for the optimal height, I find that it wasn't too hard to get used to the CQCs. My main game with the CQCs is Destiny and I've found that the increased control has given me better handling of quick scopes and shotgun flicks (when shotguns were still the meta that is). It's definitely an increase in overall control, which I appreciate. I also like the fact that the edges of the stick is completely rounded, which makes pushing the thumbstick from the thumbtip very comfortable.
This is where the CQCs fall short. As much as I like the no-nonsense nubbed pattern on the CQC, they don't last long... at all. I have soft skin and the CQCs barely lasted 2 months before the nubs started wearing off. After 6 months, the nubs were already nearly bored down and this results in the surface being almost flushed flat.
Overall, the CQCs are perhaps my favorite sticks from KF. It's still not absolutely perfect though as I'd like a version that is just 1.5mm lower and the durability of the stick should of been much better.
They are however well priced and I really wouldn't hesitate for anyone to pick the CQCs up if your thumb is shorter than 2.5"."
