KontrolFreek Crowdsources Design and Naming of FPS Freek®
Contest Allows Gamers to “Be the Judge” of New Gears of War-Inspired Gaming Accessory
KontrolFreek’s “You Be the Judge” contest runs from March 2 to 24, 2013 and calls for GOW--inspired design submissions from the general public. The design contest coincides with the March 19 release of the highly-anticipated Gears of War: Judgment, the fourth installation in the top-selling franchise from Epic GamesTM.
“Our dedicated community of gamers define our future, and thus asking them to help design, name and vote for our next FPS Freek analog stick seems natural,” said Ashish Mistry, CEO of KontrolFreek. “Over the years, we’ve listened to our fans’ ideas, but this is the first time we’ve expressly tapped the passion and creativity of the community by issuing a call for designs. We’re really excited to see what they come up with.”
KontrolFreek has enlisted Epic Games Forum Clan, GAEMS, Inc., Brittality and Gears Con as promotional partners. By partnering with them, KontrolFreek aims to reach the diehard fans of the GOW franchise to create an evocative and compelling design that will resonate with the Gears of War fanbase.
The contest will be broken up into three phases:
- Submissions will be accepted from March 2-15.
- Then, KontrolFreek will select four designs from all submissions for public voting from March 16-24.
- The winning design will be announced on March 25.
The grand prize winner receives product design and naming consideration, five pairs of the newly designed product, a GAEMS G155 Sentry Personal Gaming Environment (with a GOW skin), an Xbox 360 Gears of War controller, and a copy of the newly released Gears of War: Judgment game. The other finalists will also receive the newly-designed Gears of War-themed FPS Freeks® and a copy of the game.
