Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beginner & Pro Tips to Improve Aim, Movement, and Accuracy

by Luke Panosian 14 Nov 2025

Call of Duty launch is officially here with the latest installment of Call of Duty Black Ops 7, which takes place in the future, set in 2035. For those who know Call of Duty, Black Ops also means Zombies, and they are not pulling punches with the new lore drops for the Dark Aether Saga and another intense Zombies mode with familiar characters. Unlike other releases in the past, Black Ops 7 is a full game detached from other versions, so do not expect to have cosmetics, weapons, and other BO6-related content to carry forward into this new game. Which means everyone is starting fresh and will have to grind their way to the top in true Call of Duty fashion, and with the forward jump in time, there are bound to be many new gadgets and tech to learn on top of the new weapons.

Aside from the no carry-forward system that has been recurring for other Call of Duty releases, Black Ops 7 introduces several impactful changes and updates to gameplay and content. The biggest adjustment gamers will notice (especially those on console) is the Rotational Aim Assist that allows for a more balanced playing field when crossplaying with those on PC. The improvement to movement, along with new ADS capabilities, will allow players to seamlessly ADS during slides, dives, and climbing without key perks required. A new story that is continuous from Black Ops II, following David Mason with new game mechanics and improvements to the perk system to allow for more versatility and benefits to specialized playstyles. All of these changes and improvements help Black Ops 7 feel more like a standalone game and signal that Treyarch and Raven Software have been listening closely to the community.

How to Get Better at Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – Optimized Settings & Tips to Improve

Once you have fully installed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, you will be tempted to dive in and start playing, which is totally fine if you are looking to get a true feel for everything before making changes. Every new game will have a unique feel, and although this is Call of Duty, there are still new additions and changes that can affect how this game plays compared to previous releases. Fortunately, there are several settings that can be changed or improved to help give you the best advantage in-game and even match similar settings you may be used to from other Call of Duty versions. Button Layout is mostly a personal preference, but for those who like the control layout of previous Call of Duty games, Legacy settings for controls may fit better. Black Ops 7 has a lot of movement improvements, and with this, it can be hard to track enemies with motion blur turned on, so make sure to switch that off to maintain a clear picture at all times. For those who are more experienced players, an adjustment you can make to improve accuracy is to switch your Aim Response Curve from Standard to Dynamic. This will allow for quicker micro adjustments when aiming, create a more snappy feel while playing, and give you an edge when getting the drop on an enemy.

Aim Assist is one of the key features that received a significant change in Black Ops 7 with a new rotational effect that will impact the strength of Aim Assist based on distance and how well you can keep your target within your crosshairs. Crosshairs are another way you can gain an advantage in Black Ops 7 by making changes to the color to stand out more or changing the size and overall shape of your crosshair to complement your playstyle. For those who value accuracy and want minimal disruption on screen, you can have just a single dot and remove the crosshairs. Another key setting that impacts your visual capabilities in-game is Field of Vision (FOV), and there are a few additional settings in Black Ops 7 compared to other games, like ADS FOV, which can be toggled to Affected, which causes your ADS to reflect the FOV changes. Depending on your playstyle, you can take advantage of the FOV for hip fire and visibility, but still have a normal view when ADS or have “Affected” turned on to have aiming feel consistent with the FOV increase. Lastly, to make sure you are able to scope in and aim down your opponent quickly, I would advise you to change your ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing to instant. This will speed up your ADS ability, which is a huge advantage when it comes to multiplayer.
