Battlefield 2042 Road to Battlefield 6 Update: Best Controller Settings

by Luke Panosian 23 Aug 2025
Battlefield 6 is coming off an incredibly successful open Beta Test that broke records, and if you could not get enough Battlefield, you are not alone. Fortunately, Battlefield 2042 is a great alternative, and everyone is welcome to cash in on their Road to Battlefield 6 battle pass update that allows you to unlock items that will officially carry over to Battlefield 6 once it is released this fall. If you were able to play the Battlefield 6 Beta you were also able to unlock the newest Lynx Sniper Rifle in Battlefield 2042 instantly. There are over 60 items in the new Battlefield 2042 battle pass, and 50% will directly transfer over to Battlefield 6, so you will have plenty of incentive to dive right in and start grinding. On top of the recent battle pass update, Battlefield 2042 introduced a ton of new content, weapons, maps, and vehicles in update 9.2 that have been well received by the community, and there has even been an uptick in online players so you will not have to worry about queue times or finding a full squad to dominate with.

The Lynx Sniper Rifle is not the only recent weapon addition to Battlefield 2042; the KFS2000 Assault Rifle has also been added and is a powerful rifle that focuses on stability and limited recoil. One of the better mid-range rifles, the KFS2000 has a high rate of fire for close quarter engagements but with the right attachments like an ACOG scope and the extended barrel, you will have versatility at most distances. The Lynx Sniper Rifle is meant to be more of a vehicle deterrent, as it is a great utility sniper rifle that can take out light aircrafts and vehicles but for those who have the accuracy and precision, you can take out anyone with a headshot. For those who love to take to the skies and rain down fire from above, the A-10 Warthog and SU-25TM Frogfoot are the latest additions to Battlefield 2042 with the new update. Both will introduce updated maneuverability that will level the playing field for both new and veteran players, as each will change current aerial strategies and warfare.

Best Battlefield 2042 In Game & Controller Settings After Update 9.2
Regardless of whether you are new to Battlefield 2042, a returning player, or a veteran, a few changes to your settings can have a drastic impact on your accuracy and precision. Large-scale battles can be chaotic, and with large maps, it can feel like your enemy sees you before you do, and that may be true due to your visual settings. You can turn off the Depth of Field setting, which will allow you to see enemies from a distance sharper, and with tweaks to your color settings, you will be able to identify snipers and infantry much quicker. FOV or Field of Vision is another way to improve your ability to see enemies by increasing the FOV you widen the view your player has, and I would recommend turning off ADS FOV to allow for your hip fire and aiming sensitivity to be more aligned. Motion Blur is another common setting I would encourage players to turn off unless they value immersion more than performance, limiting sway and blur will quickly improve your accuracy during the heat of battle.

Improve Your Aim & Accuracy with KontrolFreek's FPS Thumbsticks
The ultimate upgrade to your controller that will have the most impactful improvement to your overall accuracy and precision is KontrolFreek Performance Thumbsticks. In Battlefield 2042, versatility is the key to success, and KontrolFreek’s Inferno and Galaxy were made for FPS players. Both thumbstick pairs are mixed in height with a mid-rise and a high-rise, which offers players the opportunity to benefit from the increased movement for precision and the extra surface area allows for better maneuverability. Battlefield 2042 will test your combat skills as you could find yourself battling in the air, on the ground, or in a tank, so you will need to be prepared for anything. Both Galaxy and Inferno have concave grips that form to your thumbs, and the new rubber material adds extra comfort and will ensure your thumbs will not slip off during combat. KontrolFreek’s FPS Thumbsticks are also the perfect complement to the new Lynx Sniper Rifle, with the high-rise thumbsticks increasing arc distance, allowing for smaller aiming adjustments.

If sniping is not your preferred means of combat, you will still see improved accuracy and control and have the flexibility to switch between styles of combat. The mixed height thumbsticks will also help you gain better control of vehicles and combat jets, you will feel the difference immediately, as aiming with turrets can be a bit tricky, as they are more sensitive to movement. Overall, any thumbstick in the KontrolFreek FPS collection is a must-have for Battlefield 2042, and if you are new to KontrolFreek, you can grind that free battle pass and be ready for action when Battlefield 6 launches.
